Role Overview
A major fintech transformation initiative in Riyadh is seeking a highly capable Lead Software Engineer – Fintech Platforms, Lending Systems & API Architecture to spearhead the development of scalable financial platforms supporting digital lending, customer onboarding, credit decisioning, and embedded finance solutions.
This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who thrives in designing complex financial systems and leading engineering teams to deliver high-quality, production-grade solutions in a regulated environment.
You will play a central role in building robust APIs, backend services, and system integrations that power lending workflows, customer lifecycle management, and financial product delivery at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of backend systems for lending platforms, credit workflows, and financial services
- Build secure and scalable APIs for customer onboarding, loan origination, disbursement, and repayment systems
- Architect distributed systems capable of handling high-volume financial transactions and data processing
- Collaborate with product and risk teams to implement credit scoring models and decisioning logic
- Ensure code quality through best practices, code reviews, and automated testing
- Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability
- Integrate with external systems including credit bureaus, payment gateways, and banking partners
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with Saudi financial regulations
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence
- Contribute to system architecture decisions and long-term technical roadmap
- Support deployment, monitoring, and incident management processes
Required Candidate Profile
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years of software development experience with leadership responsibilities
- Strong proficiency in Java, Python, Node.js, or similar backend technologies
- Experience with microservices architecture and API design
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization tools
- Strong understanding of database design and data modeling
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of financial systems, lending platforms, or credit risk systems preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with event-driven systems and message brokers
- Knowledge of machine learning integration for credit scoring
- Familiarity with fintech regulatory frameworks in Saudi Arabia
- Exposure to embedded finance and digital banking platforms
