A major fintech transformation initiative in Qatar is seeking a Lead Fintech Software Developer to drive architecture, software delivery, and engineering excellence across next-generation payment systems, merchant acquiring infrastructure, reconciliation engines, and financial intelligence platforms.

This role is designed for a senior engineering professional capable of bridging technical execution with strategic leadership—someone who can both build systems and shape the teams responsible for delivering them.

You will oversee the development of high-availability platforms supporting wallets, payment routing, transaction settlements, treasury controls, compliance automation, fraud monitoring, and embedded finance services across large-scale financial operations.

This is a leadership role where software architecture directly influences financial resilience, customer trust, and business scalability.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Lead software architecture and backend development across mission-critical fintech systems
• Build and optimize platforms for payments, wallets, merchant acquiring, reconciliation, and transaction monitoring
• Define standards for platform security, API governance, system resilience, and engineering quality
• Oversee software delivery across multiple development teams supporting enterprise financial products
• Improve platform scalability through microservices modernization and distributed systems optimization
• Strengthen reporting systems, treasury workflows, and financial intelligence architecture
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, compliance, and executive stakeholders on strategic engineering decisions
• Lead code reviews, architecture reviews, mentoring programs, and technical hiring initiatives
• Support production reliability, incident management, and platform recovery strategies
• Drive compliance-focused development and regulatory technology integration
• Evaluate new technologies that improve fraud detection, automation, and financial operations
• Contribute to long-term digital transformation strategy across enterprise fintech platforms

Executive Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
• 7+ years of professional software development experience with leadership exposure
• Strong expertise in Java, Python, backend systems, and distributed architecture
• Experience with Spring Boot, FastAPI, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, and cloud-native environments
• Strong understanding of digital payments, transaction lifecycles, and fintech operational architecture
• Proven leadership experience within high-availability fintech or banking systems
• Strong stakeholder management and architecture decision-making capability
• Experience in banking technology, payment gateways, or enterprise fintech platforms is highly preferred
• Excellent strategic thinking and execution capability
