Location: Remote (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)

Employment Type: Full-Time | Distributed Global Engineering

Experience Tier: Lead / Principal Architect

Contextual Overview

The financial ecosystem in Saudi Arabia is undergoing a structural shift toward real-time, interoperable, and globally connected payment infrastructures. This role is engineered for a systems-level architect tasked with designing and operationalizing cross-border settlement frameworks capable of handling multi-currency flows, regulatory fragmentation, and liquidity orchestration.

The successful candidate will define the backbone of next-generation payment corridors, integrating traditional rails with emerging digital settlement paradigms, ensuring both compliance and performance at scale.

Role Architecture

1. Payment Network Design & Orchestration

  • Architect end-to-end cross-border payment systems, covering initiation, routing, clearing, and settlement.
  • Integrate multiple rails including:
    • Correspondent banking networks
    • Instant payment systems
    • Digital asset settlement layers
  • Design smart routing engines that dynamically select optimal transaction paths based on cost, latency, and liquidity.

2. Multi-Currency Liquidity Engineering

  • Develop liquidity optimization frameworks supporting:
    • Nostro/Vostro account management
    • FX conversion strategies
    • Real-time liquidity rebalancing
  • Implement predictive models to anticipate liquidity bottlenecks across corridors.

3. Regulatory & Compliance Infrastructure

  • Embed jurisdiction-aware compliance layers addressing:
    • AML/CFT obligations
    • Transaction screening and sanctions filtering
    • Cross-border reporting requirements
  • Design systems capable of real-time compliance validation without degrading performance.

4. Distributed Systems & Scalability

  • Build highly available, fault-tolerant architectures using:
    • Event-driven microservices
    • Distributed ledgers (where applicable)
    • Cloud-native orchestration
  • Ensure horizontal scalability to support exponential transaction growth.

Technical Competency Framework

  • Deep expertise in ISO 20022 messaging standards and SWIFT integrations
  • Strong experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures
  • Proficiency in Java, Go, or Rust for high-performance systems
  • Familiarity with blockchain-based settlement and tokenized liquidity models
  • Experience with real-time data streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink)

Leadership Dimension

  • Provide architectural direction across globally distributed engineering teams
  • Engage with financial institutions and regulatory stakeholders
  • Establish best practices for secure, scalable payment infrastructure design

Compensation Model

  • Competitive global salary with cross-border incentives
  • Remote-first structure with periodic Riyadh-based strategic workshops
  • Long-term performance rewards tied to infrastructure adoption and scalability
