Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented KYC Manager to lead our Know Your Customer (KYC) function. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) processes to ensure the organization meets all regulatory obligations related to customer identification, verification, and risk profiling.
The ideal candidate combines strong regulatory knowledge with hands-on operational management skills, and is capable of leading a team while continuously improving processes to balance risk mitigation with a smooth customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain the organization’s KYC/CDD/EDD policies and procedures in line with applicable regulations.
- Oversee the end-to-end customer onboarding process, ensuring accurate identity verification and risk assessment.
- Manage a team of KYC analysts, providing coaching, quality assurance, and performance oversight.
- Conduct and review enhanced due diligence for high-risk customers, including politically exposed persons (PEPs) and customers linked to high-risk jurisdictions.
- Ensure ongoing customer due diligence (periodic reviews and event-driven reviews) is conducted in a timely and risk-based manner.
- Collaborate with the AML/Compliance team to escalate suspicious activity and support investigations.
- Monitor and interpret changes in KYC-related regulations, updating internal policies and training accordingly.
- Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to optimize onboarding workflows and KYC technology tools.
- Prepare KYC-related metrics, reports, and audit documentation for internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulators.
- Support internal and external audits, as well as regulatory examinations, related to KYC processes.
- Develop and deliver KYC training programs for staff across relevant departments.
- Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce onboarding friction.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 6–8 years of experience in KYC, AML, or financial crime compliance, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or team-lead capacity.
- Proven experience managing customer due diligence processes within a regulated financial services environment.
- Experience handling high-risk customer categories, including PEPs, complex ownership structures, and cross-border relationships.
- Demonstrated experience liaising with regulators, auditors, or external examiners on KYC-related matters.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CAMS, ICA Certificate/Diploma in AML, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of KYC, CDD, EDD, and AML regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with KYC/AML technology platforms, identity verification tools, and case management systems.
- Proficiency in using transaction monitoring and screening tools (sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening).
- Ability to interpret and apply beneficial ownership and corporate structure analysis.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including proficiency in Excel and familiarity with reporting dashboards.
- Understanding of risk-scoring methodologies and customer risk rating models.
- Working knowledge of data privacy considerations as they relate to customer information handling.
