Position Overview

The Remote Head of Open Banking API Ecosystem Engineering will play a critical role in designing, hardening, and orchestrating an advanced open banking ecosystem compliant with regional interoperability directives and global financial security protocols. The mandate includes API governance, high-availability service design, cross-institution data routing, account aggregation frameworks, and biometric-anchored consent layers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Strategically architect a federation of open banking APIs offering real-time account aggregation, payment initiation, and identity validations across heterogeneous core banking systems.

• Implement zero-downtime deployment pipelines with multi-cluster failover and automated service discovery.

• Establish a robust API gateway mesh leveraging rate-limiting heuristics, JWT-based authorization, and dynamic consent frameworks.

• Lead the development of cloud-native orchestration incorporating service meshes (e.g., Istio/Linkerd) and TLS mutual authentication.

• Drive technical compliance alignment across cybersecurity mandates, data locality policies, and consumer protection requirements.

• Collaborate with risk and infrastructure teams to implement adaptive throttling and anomaly detection across data access patterns.

Technical Requirements

• 10+ years of distributed systems engineering across financial platforms.

• Strong proficiency in API gateway systems, secure data exchange protocols, digital consent flows, and event-stream processing.

• Advanced mastery of container platforms, Kubernetes, microservice orchestration, and observability pipelines (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).

Preferred Exposure

• Familiarity with Gulf-regional digital banking transformation directives.

• Experience scaling multi-institution data fabric architectures.
