Role Overview
The Head of Global Payments Strategy & Cross-Border Settlements will define and operationalize Qatar’s next-generation payment ecosystem. This role combines strategic insight into cross-border payment innovation with mastery of digital settlement layers, ensuring Qatar’s fintech sector maintains global competitiveness in remittance flows, trade finance, and digital settlement technologies.
Key Responsibilities

Design a global payments strategy covering digital wallets, real-time settlement networks, and CBDC integration.

Develop cross-border clearing and settlement models leveraging blockchain, ISO 20022 standards, and SWIFT gpi frameworks.

Build scalable infrastructures that enable interoperability between Qatar’s financial system and global payment corridors.

Implement advanced AML/CFT screening mechanisms across international digital payment channels.

Partner with fintech startups, global payment providers, and multilateral financial institutions to shape Qatar’s cross-border positioning.

Lead strategic foresight projects analyzing global payment disruptions, CBDC adoption, and tokenized settlement layers.
Candidate Profile

12+ years in payments, remittance, or cross-border fintech operations.

Advanced qualifications in Finance, Economics, or Financial Technology.

In-depth expertise in ISO 20022 migration, blockchain settlement systems, and CBDC frameworks.

Familiarity with Qatar’s financial regulatory environment and GCC payment strategies.

Track record of building global payment infrastructures at scale.
