Position Mandate
The Head of Digital Payments Strategy will assume full ownership of strategic direction, ecosystem expansion, and operational optimization of digital payment infrastructures. This role requires a high-caliber professional capable of aligning commercial objectives, regulatory expectations, and technological scalability within a complex fintech environment.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Define long-term payment strategy across card networks, real-time payments, and alternative payment methods
- Identify and execute market expansion opportunities within regional and cross-border payment corridors
- Develop strategic partnerships with financial institutions, payment processors, and technology providers
- Drive innovation in payment experiences, including embedded finance and frictionless checkout systems
- Oversee pricing models, transaction cost optimization, and revenue generation strategies
Operational Leadership
- Supervise payment operations teams, ensuring system uptime and transaction efficiency
- Establish governance frameworks for payment processing, reconciliation, and dispute resolution
- Monitor performance metrics including authorization rates, settlement timelines, and failure rates
- Lead cross-functional collaboration between engineering, compliance, and product divisions
Technology & Infrastructure Oversight
- Guide the evolution of payment orchestration layers and API ecosystems
- Ensure scalability of infrastructure to support high transaction volumes
- Evaluate emerging technologies such as real-time rails and tokenization systems
- Oversee integration of fraud prevention tools and risk management frameworks
Candidate Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in payments, fintech strategy, or digital banking leadership
- Deep understanding of global payment networks and GCC regulatory landscapes
- Proven track record in scaling payment platforms or launching financial products
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
