Role Overview
The Settlement & Reconciliation Manager will oversee the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial transaction settlements across multiple payment channels. This role is critical in ensuring that all processed transactions are correctly matched, cleared, and recorded within financial systems.
Core Functional Responsibilities
A. Settlement Operations
- Manage daily settlement cycles across card payments, bank transfers, and digital wallets
- Ensure timely clearing and settlement with partner financial institutions
- Monitor settlement positions and liquidity requirements
B. Reconciliation Processes
- Perform end-to-end reconciliation between internal systems, payment processors, and banking partners
- Identify discrepancies and resolve unmatched transactions
- Automate reconciliation workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
C. Exception Handling
- Investigate failed, delayed, or disputed transactions
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues
- Maintain logs of exceptions and implement preventive measures
D. Reporting & Controls
- Generate reconciliation and settlement reports for finance and audit teams
- Implement internal controls to ensure financial accuracy
- Support audit processes with required documentation
Technical & Operational Skills
- Strong understanding of payment lifecycle (authorization, clearing, settlement)
- Experience with reconciliation tools and financial systems
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, or financial reporting tools
- Familiarity with fintech payment infrastructures
Experience Requirements
- 4–7 years experience in payments operations, reconciliation, or fintech finance
- Background in banking, financial services, or digital payments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
