Position Summary:
With Qatar emerging as a regional hub for Islamic digital finance and AI ethics, a pioneering executive-level remote role has been created for an Executive Director of AI-Driven Shariah Financial Intelligence. This transformative position involves leading the development of AI models trained on Islamic financial jurisprudence, capable of evaluating, advising, and even issuing automated Shariah rulings (fatwas) on complex fintech products.
You will engineer a new class of halal-native financial intelligence systems that combine machine learning with classical Islamic legal frameworks — creating systems capable of real-time Shariah compliance assessment, automated zakat calculation, halal investment screening, and embedded jurisprudence in smart contracts.
Core Responsibilities:

Lead the design of AI agents capable of interpreting Fiqh al-Muamalat and AAOIFI standards across diverse fintech products.

Develop NLP models to ingest and semantically interpret classical and contemporary fatwas, legal manuals, and Shariah board guidance.

Engineer machine reasoning systems to assess Shariah conformity of new financial instruments, including crypto, BNPL, and robo-advisory.

Embed Shariah intelligence APIs into DeFi, lending, crowdfunding, and tokenization platforms to offer on-chain halal certification.

Guide AI explainability mechanisms to ensure transparency of AI decisions to both Shariah scholars and regulators.

Collaborate with Qatar Central Bank, Ministry of Awqaf, and academic Shariah councils on governance protocols and theological accuracy.

Design continuous learning pipelines to keep AI models current with evolving jurisprudence, global fatwas, and regional interpretations.
Candidate Requirements:

Minimum 12 years in Islamic financial law, AI/ML system design, or fintech compliance.

Deep knowledge of Maliki, Hanafi, or Shafi’i jurisprudence in commercial finance, combined with technical AI experience.

Proficiency in classical Arabic legal texts and natural language processing (NLP) for legal corpora.

Previous experience building intelligent Islamic finance products, platforms, or autonomous fatwa engines.

Graduate-level studies in Islamic Jurisprudence and AI, Financial Engineering, or Applied Theological Informatics.
