Location: Remote — Strategically integrated with Oman’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy and digital banking roadmap
Seniority Level: Executive / Financial Access Architect / Digital Microfinance Innovator
Specialization: Microfinance Infrastructure / Fintech for Underserved Markets / Inclusive Banking Design
Languages: English (mandatory), Arabic (essential)
Sector: Fintech / Financial Inclusion / Digital Credit / Development Finance
Role Summary:
As Oman accelerates its National Financial Inclusion Strategy and embraces decentralized, citizen-focused digital innovation, the demand for accessible financial infrastructure has never been more urgent. A new remote Executive Designer of Digital Microfinance & Financial Access Systems is now sought to lead the design of scalable, ethical, and adaptive microfinance ecosystems for Omani micro-entrepreneurs, rural traders, and informal workers.
This is not a conventional banking role — it’s about reimagining access. From AI-powered nano-loans to mobile-first rotating savings platforms, you will architect the full lifecycle of digital microcredit, savings circles, asset-building wallets, and social credit scoring — all deeply localized and digitally native.
Primary Responsibilities:
-
Build AI-assisted nano-credit engines with behavioral and community-based risk models, targeting those outside of formal banking systems.
-
Design wallet-integrated micro-savings and goal-based financial planning tools for low-income earners and women-led households.
-
Develop mobile-first group lending tools, digital ROSCAs (Rotating Savings & Credit Associations), and asset-backed microleasing platforms.
-
Establish interoperability layers with national ID systems, mobile operators, and telco APIs to enable frictionless onboarding.
-
Integrate Islamic microfinance models (qard al-hasan, mudarabah) and develop Shariah-compliant micro-insurance/takaful modules.
-
Collaborate with the Central Bank of Oman and local development institutions to ensure licensing, credit reporting, and consumer protection alignment.
-
Embed real-time literacy gamification, nudging modules, and culturally intuitive UX flows for unbanked populations.
Ideal Background:
-
10+ years in microfinance systems, inclusive fintech design, or social credit platform development.
-
Deep experience working with rural or underserved communities in the GCC or Global South.
-
Fluent in Arabic with demonstrated understanding of Omani socioeconomic dynamics.
-
Master’s degree in Development Finance, Behavioral Economics, or Financial Technology for Inclusion.
