Executive Architect of CBDC Interoperability and Tokenized Liquidity – Remote (Saudi Arabia)

Location: Remote — Fully aligned with the Saudi Central Bank’s (SAMA) digital currency pilots and Vision 2030

Seniority Level: Executive / Systems Architect / Strategic CBDC Lead

Specialization: Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Systems / Tokenized Liquidity Ecosystems / Cross-Border Digital Settlement Infrastructure

Languages: English (mandatory), Arabic (highly preferred)

Sector: Fintech / Central Banking Technology / Web3 Monetary Architecture / Digital Currency Innovation

Position Summary:

As Saudi Arabia actively collaborates with international institutions such as the BIS Innovation Hub and the UAE Central Bank to trial cross-border CBDCs through initiatives like Project Aber and mBridge, a rare opportunity has emerged for a remote Executive Architect of CBDC Interoperability and Tokenized Liquidity. This strategic role is responsible for the technical design, interoperability protocols, and liquidity routing infrastructure required to support a multi-layered, programmable Riyal CBDC ecosystem — spanning wholesale and retail layers, cross-border corridors, and tokenized asset markets.

You will function at the nexus of macroeconomic policy and software engineering — leading the creation of sovereign digital currency rails, real-time gross settlement mechanisms, and liquidity-bridging engines between CBDCs, stablecoins, and tokenized bank deposits. The architecture you craft must accommodate monetary sovereignty, interoperability, cyber-resilience, and AML/CFT compliance at the protocol level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect secure and interoperable wholesale CBDC frameworks for cross-border trade, FX settlement, and interbank tokenized asset transfers.

  • Design high-availability, low-latency digital settlement infrastructure integrating central bank nodes, private financial institutions, and liquidity providers.

  • Build API layers for programmable monetary policy tools, such as interest-bearing CBDCs, expiration dates, and targeted stimulus.

  • Lead integration of tokenized sukuk and short-term liquidity products into CBDC-based real-time markets.

  • Design off-chain identity and compliance bridges between SAMA’s core systems and decentralized financial layers, including DID and zero-knowledge proof logic.

  • Collaborate with BIS Innovation Hub, FATF regulators, and the Arab Monetary Fund on pan-GCC CBDC standards and sandbox governance.

  • Guide digital currency ledger audits, inter-chain message validation, and monetary telemetry infrastructure.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 12+ years in digital payment architecture, monetary systems engineering, or financial infrastructure design.

  • Proven experience designing DLT-based settlement systems for central banks or supranational monetary institutions.

  • Familiarity with mBridge, Project Dunbar, Project Icebreaker, or similar CBDC pilots.

  • Expertise in blockchain platforms such as Hyperledger Besu, Quorum, or custom sovereign chains.

  • Graduate degree in Central Banking Systems, Cryptography, or Financial Engineering.
