Role Description:
Bahrain is rapidly advancing in sustainable fintech innovation, bolstered by regulatory openness, Bahrain Fintech Bay, and the Central Bank’s experimentation with green bonds, open banking, and digital microfinance. The emerging ESG finance ecosystem requires the creation of smart digital infrastructure capable of capturing, verifying, and monetizing environmental outcomes.
As the ESG-Fintech Platform Strategist & Carbon Finance Technologist, you will architect digital ecosystems that enable carbon footprint tracking, ESG-linked lending, and blockchain-secured sustainability compliance. This includes building fintech tools that operationalize sustainability data into tradeable value—anchored in carbon avoidance, renewable energy credits, and ESG scoring algorithms.
Responsibilities:

Design digital finance platforms capable of issuing tokenized ESG assets — including carbon credits, plastic offset tokens, or water credits — with full MRV (measurement, reporting, verification) automation.

Build open APIs that allow banks and fintechs to integrate carbon calculators, ESG lending scorecards, and behavioral nudging modules for consumers.

Create sustainability-linked financial products such as green BNPL, ESG investment micro-portfolios, and regenerative micro-loans.

Engineer compliance-integrated smart contracts that adapt interest rates or financing terms based on sustainability performance.

Collaborate with IoT, satellite imaging, and supply-chain partners for real-time emissions verification.

Develop AI-based ESG credit rating tools for SMEs, green entrepreneurs, and decarbonization startups.
Required Experience:

At least 10 years in fintech, carbon finance, or ESG digital systems.

Familiarity with GHG Protocols, MRV standards, and tokenization of sustainability metrics.

Proficiency in sustainability finance modeling, blockchain-based compliance tools, and API-first ESG design.

Degree in Environmental Economics, Financial Sustainability, or Fintech Product Strategy.
