The Strategic Opportunity

A leading fintech innovation platform is seeking a highly strategic Director of Embedded Payments & Merchant Finance Innovation to lead the expansion of merchant finance ecosystems, payment-integrated lending solutions, and API-driven financial infrastructure serving the fast-growing commercial sector.

This role focuses on transforming how merchants access working capital, payment solutions, and financial services directly within their operational ecosystems. The successful professional will lead innovation across merchant acquiring, payment-linked financing, embedded checkout finance, SME growth capital, invoice funding, and intelligent settlement models.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead strategy for embedded payments, merchant lending, and payment-linked financing ecosystems

• Design scalable merchant finance solutions across SME lending, settlement advances, invoice finance, and growth capital products

• Build API-first financial infrastructure for merchant onboarding, payment integrations, and platform-based finance distribution

• Collaborate with payments teams, acquiring partners, product leaders, treasury, legal, and compliance departments

• Improve merchant payment journeys, onboarding speed, and financing accessibility without compromising operational controls

• Oversee portfolio growth, repayment performance, merchant retention, and commercial profitability

• Develop underwriting strategies using transaction intelligence, alternative business data, and automated decision engines

• Ensure compliance with Kuwait financial regulations and responsible lending frameworks

• Identify new opportunities across payment-linked credit models, embedded commerce finance, and strategic partnerships

• Present executive performance reporting across merchant growth, payment flows, and financial product performance

Required Expertise

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Fintech, Economics, Product Strategy, or Business Management

• 8–12+ years of experience across merchant finance, payments, fintech lending, or digital banking

• Strong expertise in merchant acquiring, embedded finance, lending operations, and platform-based financial products

• Experience building scalable payment-integrated lending solutions and alternative finance ecosystems

• Strong commercial strategy and cross-functional leadership capability

• Executive presence with excellent stakeholder and institutional relationship management
