Strategic Mission
As Bahrain advances its position as the region’s open-regulation sandbox leader, the need has emerged for a decentralized regulatory operating system capable of automating, auditing, and transparently governing fintech and crypto firms operating within its financial zones. This role pioneers the creation of a Decentralized Regulatory Infrastructure (DRI) that empowers the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and affiliated ecosystems to digitally license, audit, and govern without traditional bureaucratic bottlenecks.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the full lifecycle development of a blockchain-native regulatory operating system for use by Bahrain’s regulators, sandbox authorities, and licensed fintechs.
-
Design self-executing regulatory logic encoded in smart contracts to manage approvals, thresholds, AML screening, and periodic digital reporting.
-
Integrate AI-driven compliance agents capable of learning institutional behavior and flagging deviations, fraud signals, or cross-border anomalies in real-time.
-
Develop institutional-grade APIs for RegTech startups, banks, and digital asset providers to plug into Bahrain’s real-time licensing and compliance fabric.
-
Launch a “Decentralized Licensing Portal” with biometric onboarding, identity federation, regulatory FAQ agents, and automated onboarding to CBB sandbox.
-
Collaborate with international regulatory bodies and Gulf authorities to ensure DRI protocol aligns with GCC-wide regulatory harmonization strategies.
-
Ensure modular plug-ins for Islamic fintech compliance filters (AAOIFI/IFSB), ESG filters, and CBK/FATF-aligned anti-money laundering frameworks.
Candidate Profile
-
12+ years in regulatory technology, compliance automation, blockchain architecture, or government digital services.
-
Deep familiarity with GCC digital regulation trends, FATF frameworks, and AML/CFT methodologies.
-
Proven leadership in building governance protocols, DAO tooling, or blockchain-based compliance layers.
-
Understanding of Bahrain’s fintech priorities, data localization standards, and integration layers (e.g., eKYC, Sijilat, Bahrain Open Banking Platform).
-
Bonus: Experience with R3 Corda, Chainlink CCIP, Solidity, Cosmos SDK, or Hedera Governing Council workflows.
