Job Overview
Director of Cross-Border Payment Rail Orchestration – Remote (Bahrain Centrality)
Sector: Fintech – Cross-Border Payments | FX Automation | Regulatory Settlement Infrastructure
Location: Remote (with Bahraini regulatory and institutional engagement)
Employment Type: Full-time | Director-Level Fintech Infrastructure Role
About the Role:
Bahrain, a pivotal fintech hub within the GCC, is aiming to expand its influence as a cross-border payment innovation corridor—linking Asia, Africa, and Europe via digital rails. As the Director of Cross-Border Payment Rail Orchestration, you will design and manage a multi-protocol payment ecosystem that connects emerging market fintechs, correspondent banks, and FX clearing agents, while satisfying CBB (Central Bank of Bahrain) compliance standards.
This role requires cross-functional mastery: blending payments architecture, treasury orchestration, FX liquidity automation, and legal interoperability between jurisdictions. You’ll operate remotely while influencing regulatory integration across Bahrain and select inter-GCC and global partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
-
Design a cross-border payment clearing framework supporting SWIFT, ISO20022, blockchain-based corridors, and mobile money aggregators.
-
Create orchestration layers to intelligently route payments based on regulatory preferences, FX slippage, speed, and cost efficiency.
-
Lead implementation of real-time gross settlement (RTGS) APIs and programmable settlement triggers via smart contract gateways.
-
Ensure compliance with CBB directives on eKYC, transaction monitoring, and liquidity reserve ratios.
-
Interface with Bahraini banks, FinHub973 partners, and ASEAN/African digital wallet networks to expand network liquidity access.
-
Introduce data-rich dashboards with explainable ML algorithms to recommend routing paths and mitigate cross-border fraud risks.
Ideal Candidate:
-
12+ years in financial infrastructure, with at least 5 in cross-border payments or treasury management systems.
-
Technical fluency in ISO20022 standards, correspondent banking APIs, payment clearing engines, and FX rate hedging automation.
-
Experience with GCC and international regulatory compliance frameworks for capital controls, currency licensing, and AML/CFT.
-
Familiarity with blockchain-based payment systems like Stellar, RippleNet, or Polygon-based stablecoin rails.
Preferred Education:
-
MSc in Quantitative Finance, Treasury Operations, or International Banking Law.
Compensation & Strategic Value:
-
Executive-level salary + performance-based FX liquidity rewards + equity in payment orchestration modules.
-
Invitation to represent the infrastructure in regulatory roundtables and multilateral fintech working groups.
-
Full remote model with paid visits to Bahrain for stakeholder coordination and financial diplomacy summits.
