Role Overview

The Chief Digital Payments Architect will lead the strategic planning, design, and deployment of high-performance digital payment infrastructures across Saudi Arabia’s evolving fintech ecosystem. This role focuses on creating scalable architectures for real-time payments, open banking frameworks, and interoperable financial networks that align with the Kingdom’s vision for a digital-first economy.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect real-time digital payment systems integrating ISO 20022 and open API standards.

• Design secure, cloud-native payment platforms capable of handling multi-rail transactions (card, QR, NFC, tokenized).

• Build interoperability layers connecting domestic banks, fintechs, and international remittance platforms.

• Lead the adoption of blockchain and DLT frameworks for cross-border settlement.

• Define AI-driven transaction analytics and fraud prevention models using predictive risk algorithms.

• Collaborate with regulators to ensure compliance with payment security and data governance requirements.

• Drive architecture modernization through microservices, containerization, and edge computing integration.

• Mentor cross-functional teams in payments architecture, design governance, and DevSecOps practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree in Financial Technology, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering.

• 12+ years’ experience in payments architecture or digital banking transformation.

• Deep technical expertise in ISO 8583/20022, EMV, PCI-DSS, and real-time payment protocols.

• Proven record designing enterprise-scale fintech platforms within GCC or global financial markets.

• Strong command of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and API ecosystem management.
