Role Overview:
The Chief Architect of Cross-Border Payments & Digital Settlement Systems will spearhead the modernization of Bahrain’s international payment architecture by designing intelligent, high-speed, and interoperable digital settlement frameworks. This position requires mastery in multi-currency transaction systems, digital payment interoperability, and next-generation settlement automation, integrating advanced analytics and AI to ensure precision, compliance, and speed in cross-border transactions.
Operating at the intersection of financial engineering and digital network design, this role leads the transformation of regional financial infrastructure into globally compliant, data-secure, and seamlessly connected digital systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Architect and deploy next-generation cross-border payment networks built on distributed ledger technology (DLT) and tokenized settlement models.

Define and operationalize real-time gross settlement (RTGS) modernization strategies, ensuring scalability and resilience.

Integrate AI and data analytics to monitor, predict, and enhance transaction velocity and security.

Lead compliance alignment with ISO 20022, FATF, and regional regulatory requirements for digital payment ecosystems.

Build multi-party interoperability frameworks between digital banks, payment gateways, and foreign exchange hubs.

Establish governance and performance monitoring structures for large-scale digital settlement ecosystems.
Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 12–15 years in fintech payments, blockchain infrastructure, or transaction network architecture.

Strong expertise in real-time settlement systems, DLT applications, and multi-currency liquidity design.

Proven experience in leading large, remote, cross-border fintech engineering teams.

Master’s degree in Financial Engineering, Information Systems, or Computational Economics preferred.
