Role Overview

Saudi Arabia is preparing for the era of digital sovereign money. This appointment requires a visionary leader to design and deliver cutting-edge frameworks for a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) ecosystem that is secure, scalable, and globally interoperable. The Chief Architect will define architecture, compliance, and governance strategies, ensuring seamless integration of CBDC into wholesale, retail, and cross-border financial infrastructures.

Core Responsibilities

• Architect a scalable CBDC platform, incorporating distributed ledger technology and advanced cryptography.

• Define interoperability standards for cross-border CBDC exchange, aligned with BIS Innovation Hub projects.

• Lead governance models ensuring monetary stability, data privacy, and cyber-resilience.

• Align with SAMA’s digital transformation agenda, FATF compliance, and ISO 20022 messaging standards.

• Manage globally distributed teams in blockchain engineering, monetary policy integration, and digital payments design.

Candidate Profile

• 15+ years in monetary systems, blockchain design, or fintech policy innovation.

• Deep expertise in CBDC frameworks, distributed ledgers, and hybrid monetary models.

• Track record of working with regulators, supranational bodies, and global payment systems.

• Leadership experience managing remote-first, cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
