Job Overview
Chief Architect – Digital Banking Core Systems Transformation
Target Market: Kingdom of Bahrain
Work Structure: Fully Remote | Enterprise Transformation Program
Functional Vertical: Core Banking, Digital Transformation, Financial Systems Architecture
I. Strategic Context & Transformation Imperative
Across Bahrain’s rapidly digitizing financial ecosystem, legacy banking cores are increasingly incompatible with the velocity, modularity, and interoperability required by modern fintech paradigms. This role is positioned at the apex of a multi-year core banking transformation initiative, where the objective is not incremental improvement—but complete systemic re-architecture.
You will serve as the principal authority on composable banking infrastructure, driving the migration from monolithic core systems toward API-native, event-driven, cloud-distributed financial platforms.
II. Transformation Mandate (Macro-Level Deliverables)
-
Orchestrate the decomposition of legacy core banking systems into modular, service-oriented architectures.
-
Design and implement real-time ledgering systems capable of supporting high-frequency transaction environments.
-
Lead adoption of Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) frameworks, enabling embedded finance capabilities.
-
Architect multi-tenant banking infrastructure supporting digital banks, fintechs, and third-party providers.
-
Establish data-centric architecture models, where financial data becomes a strategic asset for innovation.
III. Deep Technical Scope (Micro-Level Execution)
-
Engineer event-sourced systems using Kafka/Pulsar for transactional state management.
-
Design resilient API gateways with OAuth2.0/OpenID Connect security layers.
-
Implement cloud-native banking cores leveraging Kubernetes, container orchestration, and distributed databases.
-
Integrate smart contract-compatible ledgers for programmable finance use cases.
-
Optimize transaction throughput and latency using advanced caching and partitioning strategies.
IV. Regulatory Engineering & Compliance-by-Design
-
Embed compliance logic aligned with Bahrain’s financial regulatory frameworks into system architecture.
-
Ensure continuous adherence to Basel III capital requirements and IFRS financial reporting standards.
-
Design real-time auditability layers, enabling transparent financial tracking and regulatory reporting.
V. Leadership & Governance Responsibilities
-
Chair architecture review boards governing system evolution.
-
Define enterprise-wide architectural standards and design principles.
-
Mentor senior engineers and solution architects across distributed teams.
-
Act as a strategic advisor to executive stakeholders on digital banking evolution.
VI. Candidate Profile (Precision Requirements)
-
12–15+ years in core banking systems, fintech architecture, or financial infrastructure engineering.
-
Proven experience with Temenos, Finacle, Mambu, or equivalent platforms (migration or replacement).
-
Expertise in distributed systems, domain-driven design (DDD), and event-driven architectures.
-
Strong command of cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and financial-grade security frameworks.
VII. Compensation & Strategic Leverage
-
Executive-level remote compensation aligned with Bahrain’s fintech transformation programs.
-
Long-term incentives linked to successful system migration and platform scalability metrics.
-
Opportunity to architect national-scale digital banking infrastructure.
