Mandate Context

This role is conceived as a board-level stewardship position rather than a conventional employment role. The Steward is entrusted with guiding the long-term evolution of financial market infrastructure, particularly in payments, settlement systems, and digital transaction rails. The position exists above operational execution and focuses on system integrity, sustainability, and strategic continuity.

The role is fully remote, with analytical and strategic alignment to Qatar’s sophisticated financial ecosystem and its role in global financial connectivity.

Stewardship Responsibilities

Market Infrastructure Oversight

• Define long-term structural principles for payment and settlement systems

• Evaluate systemic risks arising from scale, speed, and interconnectedness

• Ensure infrastructure evolution aligns with global financial stability norms

Payments & Settlement Evolution

• Guide the transition from legacy settlement models to modern digital rails

• Assess interoperability between domestic, regional, and international payment systems

• Define principles for settlement finality, liquidity efficiency, and transparency

Governance & Accountability

• Establish governance frameworks that ensure decision traceability

• Oversee the separation of innovation experimentation from core infrastructure stability

• Define escalation and intervention thresholds for systemic issues

Strategic Foresight

• Anticipate macro-level shifts in digital finance and market structure

• Evaluate long-term implications of emerging transaction technologies

• Provide non-operational, high-impact strategic guidance

Candidate Profile

• 18–25+ years in fintech, financial markets, payments infrastructure, or central systems

• Experience operating at board, regulator, or market-infrastructure level

• Deep understanding of systemic risk and financial architecture

• Strong independence, judgment, and long-horizon thinking

Engagement Terms

• Fully remote, periodic strategic engagement

• Stewardship-based mandate (not operational management)

• International board-level fintech remuneration
