Role Overview

This role provides strategic leadership in designing Kuwait-oriented open banking ecosystems, advanced consent-driven financial data architectures, secure API gateways, and interoperable fintech enablement layers. The Director will govern API ecosystems for financial institutions, supervise compliance-centric data orchestration, and define structures that accelerate Kuwait’s digital economy and cross-platform financial collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect high-assurance API ecosystems enabling secure data exchange, payments initiation, financial identity verification, and service interoperability.

• Lead the development of standardized API governance frameworks covering authentication, rate-limiting, service resilience, and data-classification models.

• Establish consent-management infrastructures leveraging granular customer permissions, revocation logic, auditability, and real-time monitoring.

• Drive national-level ecosystem standardization aligning with Kuwait’s digital finance strategic priorities.

• Conduct enterprise mappings for API gateways, microservice clusters, distributed registries, and cross-institution data pipes.

• Define and optimize scalable developer portals, sandbox environments, and partner onboarding flows for fintech innovators.

• Oversee continuous security assessments, API threat modelling, and compliance with Kuwait-specific financial data regulations.

Requirements

• 10+ years in fintech API engineering, open banking architecture, or large-scale financial platform strategy.

• Demonstrated experience in API governance, OAuth2.1, OIDC, token lifecycle management, and distributed API networks.

• Strong knowledge of GCC open banking trends and Kuwait-specific regulatory requirements.

• Ability to design resilient, fault-tolerant, cloud-native API systems.

• Advanced degree in Information Systems, Financial Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.
