Role Overview
The Remote Senior Digital Payments Systems Strategist will oversee the design, optimization, and governance of Bahrain’s next-generation payment infrastructure. This executive-level role combines fintech innovation, regulatory alignment, and technical oversight to ensure high-performance, secure, and interoperable digital payment systems across multiple financial channels, including instant payments, digital wallets, and cross-border settlement frameworks.
Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end architecture of digital payment networks, integrating ISO 20022 messaging standards, automated reconciliation modules, and real-time settlement engines.

Develop risk-mitigation and fraud-detection frameworks leveraging AI and behavioral analytics to monitor transactional integrity and system resilience.

Design cross-border payment solutions ensuring interoperability with GCC and international payment networks while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Establish operational and governance standards for payment processing, including API management, secure data exchange, and transaction monitoring protocols.

Coordinate with financial institutions, PSPs, and regulatory bodies to drive ecosystem-wide adoption of high-performance payment solutions.

Generate technical blueprints, integration plans, compliance documentation, and performance reports to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Required Expertise

10+ years of experience in payments architecture, fintech systems design, or transaction infrastructure engineering.

Expertise in ISO 20022, instant payments, digital wallets, cross-border settlement, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

Knowledge of Bahrain’s digital payments regulations, fintech modernization initiatives, and open-finance standards.

Demonstrated leadership in large-scale payment system deployment and stakeholder coordination.
