Role Overview

The Remote Lead Digital Payments Platform Engineering Consultant will architect and optimise end-to-end digital payment platforms designed for Qatar’s advanced financial environment. The role involves deep technical involvement in payment routing, transaction orchestration, gateway frameworks, settlement automation, and cross-platform interoperability.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer payment-platform architectures including transaction engines, messaging pipelines, settlement modules, merchant service layers, and device-agnostic user interfaces.

• Develop detailed engineering artefacts including architectural diagrams, transaction-flow maps, API specifications, and operational logic frameworks.

• Conduct performance modelling covering system throughput, concurrency handling, failover behaviour, latency reduction, and high-availability scaling patterns.

• Implement structured security controls including data-segmentation models, encryption protocols, fraud-intelligence hooks, and real-time behavioural verification.

• Assess market evolution across Qatar’s digital payments landscape and identify opportunities for structural enhancement and interoperability.

• Provide engineering leadership across platform upgrades, integration initiatives, and resilience-improvement programs.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Financial Technology, or Systems Architecture.

• 10+ years experience in payment-platform engineering, digital transaction systems, or settlement infrastructure design.

• Advanced expertise in ISO 20022, cloud-native deployments, microservice ecosystems, and secure payment workflows.

• Familiarity with Qatar’s digital payments regulatory environment and infrastructure-modernisation initiatives.
