Role Overview

The Remote Lead Digital Payments Infrastructure Architect is responsible for engineering scalable, secure, and regulation-aligned payment infrastructures tailored to Bahrain’s advanced digital economy. The role demands deep architectural mastery in payment rails, merchant-acquiring technologies, mobile commerce frameworks, and ISO 20022-aligned settlement flows.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end digital payment infrastructures incorporating real-time clearing, card-tokenisation engines, payment-gateway orchestration, and omni-channel merchant interfaces.

• Establish enterprise-grade security models including encryption schemas, data-segmentation controls, and fraud-detection intelligence powered by behavioural analytics.

• Define technical standards for ISO 20022 message transformation, settlement reconciliation, and interoperability with Bahrain’s national payment entities.

• Lead high-complexity integration projects spanning PSPs, banks, fintech operators, and cross-border payment networks.

• Conduct performance modelling for throughput optimisation, latency reduction, and high-availability cluster design.

• Develop detailed architecture artefacts, including logical flow models, technical specifications, integration patterns, and end-to-end payment governance frameworks.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Information Security, Financial Technologies, or related fields.

• 10+ years specialised experience in payment architecture, digital payment platforms, or core transaction systems.

• Expertise in ISO 20022, merchant-acquiring technologies, settlement systems, and API-based financial integrations.

• Familiarity with Bahrain’s digital-payments regulatory landscape and modernisation strategies.
