Job Overview
About the Role
We are seeking a Computer Systems Engineer with specialized experience in designing, optimizing, and securing infrastructure for fintech platforms handling high-volume financial transactions. This role is deeply embedded in the design and evolution of mission-critical systems—real-time payment processing, risk analytics engines, and regulatory reporting pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
-
Architect resilient systems that support low-latency, high-throughput financial operations (e.g., order routing, transaction settlement, fraud detection).
-
Design and refine infrastructure for scalability, failover, and compliance with financial standards such as PCI DSS, SOC 2, and ISO 20022.
-
Collaborate with DevOps and Site Reliability teams to deploy hardened cloud-native services using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
-
Optimize system performance by profiling compute and memory usage across microservices interacting with financial message buses (e.g., FIX, Kafka, gRPC).
-
Lead the integration of secure enclaves, HSMs (hardware security modules), and key management workflows within cloud and on-prem hybrid environments.
-
Implement audit-ready logging and event-driven monitoring for all critical systems to meet real-time observability and forensic standards.
-
Participate in threat modeling and help establish secure communication between internal systems and external partners, including banks, payment processors, and regulatory gateways.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
-
5+ years of systems engineering experience with at least 3 years in a regulated fintech or financial services environment.
-
Proven expertise in high-availability systems and distributed system design, especially under compliance constraints.
-
Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture, especially involving message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and stream processing (Flink, Spark Structured Streaming).
-
Deep knowledge of cloud-native design (AWS preferred) and container security.
-
Familiarity with transaction-level encryption, tokenization, and secure computation protocols (e.g., MPC, homomorphic encryption) is a strong advantage.
-
Comfortable interpreting and contributing to architectural diagrams, audit trails, and risk documentation in regulated contexts.
Preferred Skills
-
Experience with financial APIs and formats: FIX, ISO 8583, SWIFT MT/MX.
-
Prior work in building or scaling systems for real-time payments, neobanking, crypto custody, or algorithmic trading.
-
Ability to write clear, automation-friendly documentation for both engineering and compliance teams.
-
Familiarity with zero-trust architectures and federated identity management.
